Hello Word! I am new to these forums... welcome me!
My Ford has been giving me a few problems of late, but I no longer have the money to have someone else fix them... soooo
Right now the only problem I have is that a friend of mine replaced the alternator (2-bolt style) and the next day I found out that my power steering was no longer working. I found a leak in the "Intake hose" but am not sure If I can fix it or not.
I followed the tube that leads out of the power steering fluid well (the one at the bottom of the well) and it lead to the steering shaft (on the other side of the car), and then back out towards the power steering fluid well again but this one goes over and under the alternator to what I assume is a pump or reservoir that feeds to another tube that leads back to the power steering fluid well.
I found that the leak is right at the point where the return tubing meets the "reservoir" (I am not sure on the definition of this device). There is a soft tube that connects to a J-shaped metal tube. The metal tube then attaches to the "reservoir" somehow, but I cannot see down into the body of the car well enough to see how it attaches. I assume there is a nut that tightens it onto the "reservoir" but do not know what size nut is there or if there is a break in the line.
Can anyone tell me if this is a difficult or expensive situation to repair on one's own or at least what size that nut is (and if it is actually there).
Also let me know if there is another possible solution..?
Thanks
-Tim
