Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default 1993 ford escort fuel cut out problems

The fuel cut out light is on, and the injectors won't inject, does anyone know what might be causing this?

We have already found and re-started the inertia switch, put gas in the car, and it still won't start.

If it's not the fuel injectors or the fuel cutoff, what is it?

any suggestions will be appreciated.

When you turn the key to the on position can you hear the fuel pump make a humming noise for about 1-2 seconds? If not sounds like it may have a bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay. You could probably pick up a fuel pump relay at a junk yard for a couple dollars to see if that is the problem or not. The fuel pump relay is located on the ECU bracket under the center console up near the firewall. There are two relays on the bracket. One of them is probably brown/black which is the EEC relay and the other one is probably green/black and is the fuel pump relay. Also check the wiring going to plug for the relays. My dad's '94 Escort had a no start problem a few years ago and it was a burnt wire in the plug going to the EEC relay. It took us a couple weeks to find the problem.
