Ford EscortFord Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.
If my timing is off will that effect the car from turning over. Its getting fuel, spark and cranks just wont turn over.Ive tryied coil, plugs, plug wires, starting fluid, what the hell can it be,Im trying not to pay a diagnostic fee and a timing adjustment together. Thanks for any info.
If I understand you correctly the engine is turning over just won't start. The timing would keep it from starting if it is off far enough. If you have fuel and spark it should start if the timing is right and you have compression. Might want to take a look at the timing belt to make sure it hasn't lost some of it's teeth and jumped time. Don't worry if it has, it will not damage the engine since it is a non interference engine. You should be able to just get everything realigned and put a timing belt on it and be good to go. Also if all this began when you were replacing the serpentine belt it's possible you unplugged an electrical connector or knocked a vacuum line off causing the no start. Be sure to check the crankshaft position sensor to make sure it is plugged up. If it is unplugged you shouldn't have any fire though. Also look around to make sure all the vacuum lines are hooked up. Are you sure you didn't cross some of the plug wires when you changed them? That would be the most likely thing I can think of.
