Default fuel cut out on escort gt 92

My ford escort gt shuts off once n awhile when im driving it or just have it sitting in neutral and i step on the gas.It begins to shake a lot sometimes. It jumps and you get the feeling the car is loosing pressure when you hit the gas and its about to turn off.The fuel cut out light illuminates as well. I did check the wires on the driver side to see if anything looks like it was moved because i have an amp wire running by it, but it doesn't seem to be the problem. Maybe its the fuel pump? I don't know. Could it be from the wires from the speaker system? PLEASE HELP!..I don't want to sell it but i already have it out in ads. Please reply soon!

sounds like a fuel system issue. bad pump or clogged filter. maybe someone else will have a better answer, but i'd start eliminating easy stuff first. try changing your fuel filter and checking fuses.

btw, what is a fuel cut out light? never heard of it...

Check basic maintenance items first, such as spark plug gapping.
