Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default Is It Speedo or Speedo Cable?

For the past few months my wife's '95 Tracer wagon has been making an annoying sound that I swear is coming from behind the speedometer. It's kind of like the noise wet sneakers make on a clean linoleum floor and its "beat" gets faster the faster you go. The speedo needle is completely steady and seems accurate. It's an auto trans if that matters.

I'm not all that mechanically inclined but occasionally I like a project if there's even a glimmer of hope that I can do it. Does this sound a problem inside the actual speedometer or a cable that needs lubricating? Other posts here make it seem like I could do the lubricating, but I wouldn't touch the gauge itself I don't think. Thanks for any advice.
