Ford EscortFord Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.
Has anyone else had problem with their transmissions? I bought a 2000 Ford ZX2 used, 1 year old. It had about 16,000 miles on it. I soon found out the transmission was shot! Ford put a rebuilt transmission in it under warranty. Recently it started thumping! I asked around and was told the transmission was going out. It's got about 68,000 miles on it right now. It makes the noise when I'm stopped for a minute then go again. It's loud when I'm in overdrive, so I'm not using overdrive right now, just using drive. If anyone's heard of a recall or something for this problem, I would appreciate the information. I'm laid off and can't afford to fix it! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
