Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default MTX75 Gear selector mechanism refitting *URGENT*!

Hi all,

i've just swapped gearboxes and changed clutch on my '94 Escort 1.8 TD with a MTX75 'Box..

Upon fitting the gear linkage to the box and checking whether it selected gears.. i found

that no matter what position the gearstick was in.. there were no gears to be found!!

I removed the gear selector mechanism (on top of gearbox where the reversing switch plug

connects).. There was a sheered bolt on the shaft which selects the gears..which i

replaced.. anyway to the main point.. I cannot get the ball on the selector shaft to connect

to the socket which is on the shaft that connects to the gear linkage on the car to engage.

I've sort of got it to connect, but it is not normal in operation ..is very stiff, and

cannot engage more than 2 gears..certainly out of alignment..

Looked in haynes manuals and searched everywhere on the net but cannot find any answers..

anyone know how to refit the gear selector unit to an MTX75 'box..? Kinda urgent as i need

to drive the car to work in the morning!!

Any help MUCH appreciated!!
