Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. Default 94 Escort GT Where's the Flasher?

Help!
My Chilton's book says it's on the interior fuse panel. I see a cream colored panel with fuses on it. I don't see a cube-shaped flasher-relay on there.

I tried taking off the underside of the steering wheel panel, didn't find it there, either.

Didn't find it under the hood.

My auto-store's replacement part is a black cube with 3 prongs, so I'm looking for something like that.

It's a 1.8L engine.

is it on the stork mountings usually on left side on bottom
if not drop the fuse box down and the relays usually located on top of that

There are some things looking like relays with their tops mounted to a metal frame or strut, up under the left-side dash. They have translucent white connectors on the bottoms of them.

Is that what you mean? I will go see if one's three-prong. They look a little different than the parts-store's cube.

Thanks for replying!

Still can't find it.
I can't get the connectors off of the small cube-shaped relays (?), and they don't look like they go to the blinker-signal stick anyway. They're smaller than my store-bought flasher, and made to fit the connector's shape.

try under the steering column cowling (remove the lower section - just a few screws). The Relay is pushed into the multi-function switch unit. There is a plastic retaining tab which bends outwards. The flasher relay pulls away from where it is plugged in, inwards into the vehicle towards the seat. It was quite stiff on mine.

If you have difficulty finding it let me know and I'll take a photo

I found it.

It's the largest of the relays, mounted by their tops to a metal bracket under the dash, above and behind the fuse panel. Mine's grey. It does have a plastic connector with a bunch of wires on it. It's a 7-blade unit, says "Flasher" and other things on it.

The parts guy gave me the wrong thing, it's not the 3-prong, $13 cube. It's about $76-$114. So it's a good thing mine still works ( ha ).

I found a blown fuse, and smoke came up from under the hood, at my driver's side signal-light area when I replaced it. So, I must have a short around there.

Thanks for your replies.
