98' ZX2 service engine light

My service engine light has been on for about 30,000 miles. Took it in they checked the car out, hooked it up to the computer and couldnt find a problem and turned it off. They said that it was possibly a problem that didnt occurr when they test drove it afterward. Four days later it comes back on. Still have the issue. One morning the car wont start and the engine light is now on with no key in the ignition. Jumping it did nothing. Is it a battery issue, or an electrical issue?

I wish I could help, but I've never heard of a engine light on without the key on.
