Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default Fuel problem

I have a 1988 Escort GL with the 1.9L CGI fuel system. I'm having some fuel problems. When I adopted the car I was told the in-the-tank fuel pump needed to be replaced. So I did just that, half filled the tank and it wouldn't start. I will try to run if you put a little gas down the carb.

My latest test was to disconnect both the outflow and return lines nearest the tank and turning the ignition key to run. I assume that fuel should have come out of one or the other line. No. Any suggestions on my next course of action?

it might not be the right fuel pump installed or it wasnt installed correctly or withe the fuel lines they are thick so they dont leak but they are corroded by the fuel and my guess is that they are corroded and collapsed inside ok mate
