98 Escort Stalling when idleing Hi all,
My 98 Ford escort (65k miles) is having stalling issues, whenever I stop or start to slow down it starts to sputter and stalls, the idle needle is very eradict and sometime when I have my break pressed down, the car jerks and struggles to not stall out(feelings like i am driving a manual but not) When I am driving speeds over 15 mph it's fine. Also the check engine light has been on for a very longer time ( 4yrs), but I went to several machanics in the past and they were unable to find out anything wrong with it, I also had them reset it and it would just come back on again. I took this stalling problem to several machanics and they told that it's the mass air flow sensor that's broken, so had that replaced and it didn't do the job, then another machanic said the sensor was defective so he replace it again, and that didn't do the job. Then the machanic said it's a Idle sensor ( not sure about the exact name) had that replace and didn't work. so far about 600 dollars worth of repairs and it jsut seems to make my car worse than before. a month ago the stall would happen like 1 of out 10 times I stop at a light, but after the repair it's like 2 times at each light. anyone know what the problem is? |
