I've got a '97 Escort LX Sport. It's been running fine up to and including this morning. This afternoon when I tried to start the car, I got no response from the engine. When the key is turned to the on position, the dashboard lights illuminate and the fuel pump makes a little noise. When the key is turned to the Start position, nothing happens. The engine doesn't turn. No clicking noise of the solenoid. Nothing. There's plenty of fuel and oil. The car has a manual transmission. I have not tried the "pop-the-clutch" method of starting it out of concern for potentially making a bad situation worse. Any suggestions?
