98 Ford Escort Security System Question

My friend has a Ford Escort Wagon 1998 and just purchased a remote start unit to be installed. I would like to get info on what security system is installed and how to disable/bypass it. She does not have a remote start, but a security system that will set the alarm off if you open the door when the unit is armed.

1. Where is the security module installed and how to bypass it.

2. Does it have a passive security system installed where in you need a key in the ignition for the vehicle to start?

Any info towards the factory installed security module will help.
