Ford Excursion In terms of size, the Ford Excursion is the king of big sport-utilities. Supremely stable at speed, it feels safe and secure on the open highway. Whether you have a lot of cargo to carry, a bunch of people to transport, a big trailer to pull, or all of the above, the Excursion is ready for whatever you throw its way. It can tow up to 11,000 pounds and seat 8-9.

Default Gas Mileage

I have read threads and have heard from other Excursion Diesel owners that they are getting 18 miles to the gallon. I haven't seen more that 13mpg. Anyone have info? I have a 2005 4X4 Excursion.

Thanks,
Rich

I'm averaging around 13 with the V10 thus far.

I hate to say it, but 18mpg sounds a little unreasonable if it has the V10. 13mpg actually sounds pretty good, IMO.

Edmunds seems to think 13mpg is about average:

I suspect wherever you are hearing the 18mpg from is either:
*Lies
*Inaccurate calculating
*Wishful thinking
*2wd w/smaller engine

I hate to say this, but if that type of gas mileage isn't for you, I'm afraid that excursion isn't either.

But hey-look at it this way--you are getting awesome mileage, IMO I get about 14-15mpg in my 2 door, V6 Explorer. And that only puts out 160hp and 220ft/lbs torque, according to factory specs.

18 mpg is the standard diesel excursion mpg. However, there is no possibility that a gas V10 is routinely getting 18 mpg; 13 is much closer to what could theoretically be achieved.

I have a 2003 7.3 PSD 4x4 Excursion. I get 18MPG on the high side. I have heard of some getting more. I hand calculate too, so I know know that I get high 16's to even high 18's with regularity. Yeah, sometimes, I do drop lower.

I don't know enough about the 6.0 to say much about what kind of mileage it should get.

Great, so how much are you going to charge us for enviromox...

And do you have a fuel log to show your results with driving conditions?

What is "enviromax"? Sounds something I should look in to if I'm going to purchase one of these beasts.
Thanks,
Dave...

OK< www.enviromax, have to join before they give the cost of this stuff.
Does it work? Anyone with any experience, that doesn't have any financial interest, would like to hear from. Sounds gimmicky but any fuel advantage is worth investigating. Thanks.

A quick web search points as it as a multi level marketing program. Good luck with results.
