Ford Excursion In terms of size, the Ford Excursion is the king of big sport-utilities. Supremely stable at speed, it feels safe and secure on the open highway. Whether you have a lot of cargo to carry, a bunch of people to transport, a big trailer to pull, or all of the above, the Excursion is ready for whatever you throw its way. It can tow up to 11,000 pounds and seat 8-9.

Default Excursion Brakes

My dad has an 01 V10 Excursion. It needs brakes almost everytime it goes into the shop. Did ford put to small of brakes on these vehicles? does anyone else have this problem? The truck is not abused heavily. We have thought about going with a set of performance brakes. Comments?

Yeah everybody drives and brakes different so it really depends on how it is driven.

yeah. well the truck isn't used that much because it is more of a towing vehicle. It is used mostly when towing (horse trailer, boat, cars etc.) and winter driving, which it handles VERY WELL If it was a daily driver I would definatly upgrade rotors and pads. Since it mostly sits i don't think its really a huge deal, I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

I also have a 2001 excursion, with the same problem. I had the rotors turned. after one week the front wheels were covered with brake dust, and the brakes pulsate between 40-50 mph. Anyone have any ideas?

It all depends on the brakes. If you put cheap pads on you will wear through them fast. I believe the pads are supposed to be semi-metallic, if you get dust fast means you are using very cheap pads that were not designed to fit on your vehicle and this is why you get all the problems.

I have 2000 excursion and it is a daily driver and it tows. If you tow and do not have good trailer brakes you need to upgrade. If it was a daily driver running empty really no reason to upgrade. Also down shifting on hill make a huge difference on the brakes. It is a very heavy vehicle and it builds heat up fast on the brakes assembly.

Right to the piont,THEY SUCK
to small of a rotor for a car that weight is 7,200 lbs Your Not Alone with brake Problems i have a 2005 excursion (deisel) Ford Will not step up to fix the problem..they warp cause they get hot so why cut them and make them thinner, HMmmmmmmmmmmm i went to slotted rotors and love them
or you could get a bigger rotor from brimbo but you will have to get bigger wheels and tires( not Cheap )
