| 2000 excursion noise I have a noise when I am turning either left or right. Been to the dealer 3 times now. They have replace upper and lower ball joints, some bushing, and stabilzer links twice. The noise seems to happen when turning and the body is twisted like going across a dip in the road. I'm now being told that it needs body mount shims from the dealership. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance. |

| 2000 Excursion For those of you struggling with the front end noise, I have the answer as my 2000 excursion did the same thing at only 800kms NEW. I'm pretty sure this will be your answer to this problem. It's a kluncking noise when turning left or right but when driving over a smooth transition in the road is when you really hear it or can duplicate it. Thats because the problem has nothing to do with ball joints, etc. but everything to do with LOOSE NUTS on the U-BOLTS holding your front axle. Have them tightened with an air impact gun before something serious happens. I had this done to my truck six years ago and the problem was solved. In my case the kluncking dissappeared immediately after having this done and I strongly believe this will help most of you out there. It was probably just a poorly torqued impact gun on the assembly line when these trucks were put together, they were snug (looking tight to the naked eye) but not torqued enough (mechanic used a half inch drive air impact gun with no holding back). Give this a shot, see what happens, it worked for me and I've been smiling since.
