Ford ExcursionIn terms of size, the Ford Excursion is the king of big sport-utilities. Supremely stable at speed, it feels safe and secure on the open highway. Whether you have a lot of cargo to carry, a bunch of people to transport, a big trailer to pull, or all of the above, the Excursion is ready for whatever you throw its way. It can tow up to 11,000 pounds and seat 8-9.
My wife drove our 2001 Ex to work the other day and called me to tell me that the Ex wont start. When I got there I tried the starter but nothing happened. Every thing else worked except for the starter. She said the shifter doesn't feel like it is in park. Sure enough it didn't feel right. I pulled the shifter down a notch or two and found nuetral and then started the Ex up. I tried to put it in park but it would only get to reverse. The lever feels like it made it to park position but the tranny is still in reverse. To get it in drive you have to go to L2 or D2 whichever it is. By moving the lever it feels very sloppy. When I put the lever in park position I can crawl under the Ex and put it in park at the tranny. The lever feels kind of sloppy so I realize that something in the linkage has come loose, but I cant seem to find out where. It all feels secure at the tranny so it has to be at the column. Any body have this problem before or know what is wrong? Help me fix this. I have fishing to do.
