 Tow/Mode in Mountians and Trans winding?
I have an 04 Excursion, 4wd, diesel. while towing a 4900 lb camper (in tow/haul mode) up a mountian at about 30 mph, when let off the gas to start downgrade, the transmission made a Loud winding sound that made us stop the truck to investigate. However, when stopped the truck and started again, the sound stopped. It did this 3 times until we turned off the tow/haul mode and it did not do this anymore.
Question: should I not use tow haul mode on steepgrades up or down? and was this sound probably just the transmission dropping in to a very low gear or the Turbo kicking in? Kinda freaked out about this. |
