Ford ExcursionIn terms of size, the Ford Excursion is the king of big sport-utilities. Supremely stable at speed, it feels safe and secure on the open highway. Whether you have a lot of cargo to carry, a bunch of people to transport, a big trailer to pull, or all of the above, the Excursion is ready for whatever you throw its way. It can tow up to 11,000 pounds and seat 8-9.
I have a 2000 V8 ford excursion with 160,000 miles. It is in great shape, but like every other Excursion, mine has brake problems. I bought it last year, and I need new pads, rotors and calipers. I don't tow very often, I just mainly use my truck to get from point A to point B.
I would like to buy the parts and replace them myself. Any suggestions for the type of pads, rotors and calipers that would work best for this operation? Advice for the installation?
I put Napa's Ultra Premium pads on my X and just had them turn the rotors, front and rear, bled the brakes and I swear it stops better than when it was new. A tip is, where the bolts that bolt the cailiper on are, and they allow the caliper to slide back and forth a little to give you even wear on both pads, clean and grease them so the caliper will slide, nobody ever does that and thats why the inside pad wears twice as fast as the outside pad. Why do u need new calipers at most you usually would just need to replace the piston seals (only if they're leaking brake fluid) and maybe the dust boot that go over the seals. I bought the good Napa pads because you get what you pay for and I new the Motorcraft pads couldn't be any better than Napa's best at $75 a pair vs. the $100 per pair Motorcraft ones.
i would try this site out first brimbo brakes
you need bigger brakes for the Excursion and they make them
i have the same problem, just like most with An Excursion
Ford tells us , It is the way we drive. BULL car is just to heavey for a size brake they have on it ..............
