New to Excusion and looking for a good exhaust system.
Ford ExcursionIn terms of size, the Ford Excursion is the king of big sport-utilities. Supremely stable at speed, it feels safe and secure on the open highway. Whether you have a lot of cargo to carry, a bunch of people to transport, a big trailer to pull, or all of the above, the Excursion is ready for whatever you throw its way. It can tow up to 11,000 pounds and seat 8-9.
New to Excusion and looking for a good exhaust system.
Just bought my first Ford 05 4X4 Excursion Limited V10 6.8L, and loveing it, but no so much the gas milage. Just orderd a K&N cold air intack, and want to add a exhaust system like Flowmaster, Magflow, etc. Would love some input from the vets out there. Would a chip be a good idea and which one to use?
My 05 X is all stock but I did try a cherrybomb in place of the muffler and it sounded good but there was a horrible drone at highway speeds especially since its an suv and the muffler is still under the cab unlike a pick-up. So i put the stock muffler back on. I'm saving up for the Banks PowerPak it comes with full exhaust, heads back except CAT,air intake, chip, and seperate chip for tranny, almost $2000. It also comes with a new y-pipe which if you haven't noticed the stock on has a rediculous reduction in it that restricts so much flow its a joke, thats why I'm waiting to do it all cause any exhaust mods would be a waist if you don't get rid of that restrictive y-pipe. Let us know what you do, maybe I won't end up spending $2000.
Does the power pack work on the 05 V10s? I called Banks today and asked about their exhaust systems and they told me that because of a body change in the 05 that it would not work, but it was the Monster Exhaust I was asking about. I did notice the Y. You think they would have come up with something better.
Yeah, they didn't list anything for the 05' when I looked either but when I called them they said they had the parts they just hadn't updated their stuff yet and they don't sell much for the V10's so it wasn't at the top of their list. And the Monster exhaust is what they call it for the diesel's so maybe they weren't looking at the right thing. As far as I know nothings different about the 05' X mechanically but in 05' they put the new 3 valve V10 in the pick-ups but not the X's so maybe that's why they don't have it straight for the 05's.
And about the y-pipe, my local Ford dealer said its like that because there was an exhaust flutter noise that kind of sounded like it had headers and to meet some new requirements that had to make it more quiet and that was their answer. I don't understand it though because my dad has an 01' motorhome with a V10 and it doesn't have that stupid y-pipe and it doesn't sound any different than mine. He won't let me swap them though so I can see if I can notice a difference in power or mileage.
