Default 7.3 vs 6.0 psd

Hey all I'm new to this forum. I'm in the market for a Excursion psd but I've got a few questions regarding which engine to get. Does anyone have a link to a site that might have the hp and torque numbers of the two engines listed some were? I've read in other places that some think the 7.3 is the better why to go. I'm also wanting to do a little power up grading so which one do you think lends its self better to performance up grades?
any feed back and info would be much appreciated.

thanks:smokin

the 6.0 is supposed to have more horsepower, and as much torque as the 7.3, and do it on less fuel...

The 6.0 is supposed to be more powerful (as most engines are when they are redesigned), however, I was told numerous times by different people to stay away from the 6.0. I was told there are too many bugs that need to be worked out and too many problems with them (even by two service guys at dealerships). I also noticed and it was confirmed by a ford dealer service guy that the engine is very hard to work on and reach around to do things with.

If you are a hardcore diesel enthusiast, cubes rule and so does the 7.3L. The only reason Ford changed to the 6.0L was to lower the cylinder bore size, to give slightly better emissions. Ford adjusted the computer to give slightly higher HP & TQ then the 7.3L to stay competitive. Keep in mind, the higher the HP the less durable the engine becomes (over time the maintenance will catch up). If you plan to tow heavy loads and/or carry a lot of weight the 7.3L is the way to go. If you are after performance and do not plan to tow at all, or very little then the 6.0L would be the better engine to get. You can tune it to higher HP levels then if you had a 7.3L engine.

I bet that the service guy who said the diesels are hard to work on is as tall as my wife - 5'4". I can service the diesels at work without any problems..even raised up to get the tires off the ground!

I have a gas and diesel. If you tow alot, and i mean alot get the diesel. Diesel excursions are little more expensive, but dont break in till about 100k, but the price of fuel is a drawback at least here. Gas gets better mileage and you can tow well with it. The cost of the two jsut depends on how much you tow in my opinion

Hi,
I´d like to ask you for the fuel consumption for your Excursions.
Im interested ONLY in the 6,0L and 7,3L diesels.
Miles per US gallon, or (preferrably) liters per kilometer if you want to make some maths for me...
Thankful for your reply, since fuel prices are horrible here in Europe (around 6$ per gallon).

Default gas Mileage on a V10 excursion

I have an 2002 with 90K miles. I averaged 13 Mpg for the first 50K. I modified the air intake and got 15Mpg for the last 40K. I recommend the gas engine, less noise, cheaper gas, cleaner.
