Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default Need help diagnosing a new problem!!!

So I have a 06' EB Expedition and on the way to go grocery shopping the truck started acting pretty weird. We were driving down the neighborhood when it seemed like the starter just started to kick on by itself while we were in drive and moving at around 30mph. It made some whicked metal on metal sound and I immediately pulled off to the side and shut her off. When I went to start it again, it immediately fired up when put on the "on" or "ACC" position without having to move it that extra 1/4" like normal. Continued to do this as we turned around, but I'm not quite sure if it is a starter/solenoid or ignition switch type problem. Anyone have any insight?

I just had the same problem with my 2003. I think it may be the ignition switch since the starter engages when the swtich is in the "on" position and not the "start" position. I am trying to find out how hard it is to replace the switch myself. I would hate to pay someone else a lot of money for something I can do myself.

I agree with the above post. I had a water leak around the windshield that was allowing water to drip onto the GEM module. This would cause the module to start shorting out. It can also cause your radio to start cutting in, blower moter to run, starter to engage and all sorts of other little gremlins to pop up. Take it in somewhere to have it checked for a water leak or do it yourself if you know how and have the window resealed or replaced as needed.
