Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 98 Expedition dash gauge problem

Half my dash gauges are out, is there a light bulb or is it fiber optics? How do I fix or replace. Driving at night is not fun when you can't see the gauges!!

I'm almost certian bulbs are used. the bulbs look like a #168 bulb, but they have a base on the bulb that doesn't seperate. The bulb assembly twists out of the back of the instrument clusterl. This involves pulling the cluster though.

Thanks for the info. How bad is it to pull the cluster. It sounds like it would be a all weekend project.

yup, it'll take a little bit of time, you have to carefully pull off the dashboard on the drivers side, and you need to have the correct size socket wrenches. Also be careful when you actually remove the guage cluster, there may be delicate wires that need to be disconnected before you yank it out.

I know they are bulbs. I just found dash removal link myself - it's actually for fixing a bad odometer, but how in the heck would I have EVER know the light switch trick?

Generally speaking you find the methods for removing parts by buying a service manual from Ford or other source, such as Haynes, Chilton, etc.
