Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default ABS indicator light

My wife had her brakes changed on her 1999 ford 4x4 5.7 automatic expedition at a local shop about 2 months ago. I recently drove her car and noticed the abs light on in the dash. She says it's been like that since she had it changed but I don't think that light should be on. Did they forget to hook something up? Thanks, Ralph

I would pull BOTH front wheels off and check the wires going to the hubs. Maybe remove and clean the connectors too. Good luck!

Default Abs

jack the truck up on jack stands and turn the wheels to either side. find the ABS gears on the axles, or the hub if it's 2WD, and spray the hell out of them and the ABS sensor next 2 them with tons of brake cleaner. u might wanna wear a mask, unless of course u like hallucinating while working on ur car. lol. anyways, the gears look like a metal ring with teeth cut in the outside. the sensor is just a magnet so make sure u take a towel and wipe off any metal shavings that may be stuck 2 it. other than that the system is purely electronic. so if all your mechanicals are in working order ur gonna have 2 take it 2 a shop n have them scan ur ABS system. also check the same on the back tires. even if they only changed the back brakes they most likely removed the rear wheels 2 check the brakes. good luck. and b careful with the ABS system. that's the only thing between u and an accident in hassardous conditions

i 4got something. oops. another thing u wanna check is 2 make sure that the gap between the abs gear and the sensor is approximately 1/8 to 3/8 of an inch. that might not b the exact gap but use that as a generalization. if the gas is 2 big the magnet will not read the gear and cause a malfunction

The rear diff has a single ABS sensor mounted on TOP of the gear housing (center of diff). It is held on by a single 8mm? screw and has a single pigtail going tt. U might remove it and clean it with brake and/or electronics cleaner and reinstall...

Did you have any success cleaning the front tooth rings and speed sensors without removing any brake parts? I'd like to try the same on mine. If I need to take my rotors off I have issues.

Thanks.........
