Ford ExpeditionTrue expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.
This is my first post and I hope you all can help. I have a '99 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. This car has been great but I am having some suspension trouble. This truck has the air ride feature and for about a year, the compressor would make this rattling noise as it was inflating. Now, it makes no noise and the truck looks as if I had it lowered about five inches.
My questions are:
1.) If I drive it like that, will I be hurting anything?
2.) What would it cost to have the compressor replaced?
3.) What are the pro/cons of replacing the old system with one of the passive systems I have seen and which one would be the best.
Thanks for your time and help. I look forward to hearing from ya'll soon.
1) Yep, you will wear out your tires much faster since your alignment is now way off.
2) The compressor is between $400-500 (part only) depending on whether yours is 2WD or 4WD.
3) Replacing with passive is fine, as long as you have the vehicle re-aligned after.

I just bought the Strutmaster's Deluxe kit for my car and will attempt to have these professionally installed. I'll keep you up to date on how everything goes.
Yah, the the aircompressor at strutmaster.com is only 155. I bought my airbags and dryer from them. I installed them myself and works great.
The rattling sound you hear is bad bushings that hold the compressor to the body. THere are three of them that need to be replaced. Same thing happend to me. I replaced the three bushings and presto no rattling sound.
1. you wont hurt anything, alignment will not be off that much to ruin your tires, the only thing that is changed is your caster not your toe or camber.
2. you can buy the air compressor from strutmaster.com for 155, make sure you buy a dryer also
3. using either is fine.
