Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Unhappy 2007 Expedition EL fuel smell

I've been having an issue with my 07 Expy. A couple of days after I bought it in February, I noticed a fairly pronounced fuel smell from the climate control system.

I took it in, and there was a recall on the fuel rail for this.

They "fixed" it, but the smell hadn't gone completely away.

It has been in 3 more times to fix it. The last time, they'd seen a stain from lightly leaking fuel on the fuel filter. They (Saccuchi Linc-Merc in Newport, RI) replaced the fuel filter. They smell further diminished, but still hasn't gone completely away.

Anyone have a similar issue, and if so, how was it fixed? Thank you.

Here are a few causes of fuel odor, regardless of the year or make of the car or truck:

* leak in fuel feed or vent line.
* tank overfilled!
* Evaporative emissions system canister clogged.
* vapor leaks from system lines.

Khooper-thanks for the feedback. It is starting to get cold again, and I notice the smell seems more prevalent in winter, but that could be a function of the fuel not disappating as fast from the low temps.

Regarding the tank overfill, I only fill it until the fuel fill nozzle pops for the first time, and immediately stop. I do not "top off" the tank.

Ok, out of cuirosity, would any of this have any impact on mileage? I average (over the course of the full tank) about 16.x mpg, consistently.
