Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

I talked to a mechanic friend of mine and he said he has seen this problem several times.

There should be a single small gauge wire with a plastic connector on the alternator. This connector gets loose or corroded and causes this intermittent issue.

His fix has been to go to ford and get new pigtail end to replace the connector and the issue goes away.

I haven't seen the connector myself but I would think that you should be able to get in there and clean and tighten it.

Aslo if the fix above doesn't work i would guess that the regulator in the alternator may be fluctuating a bit from age. This doesn't mean its bad necessarily just aged.

You may be able to fix this by installing the same type of capacitor setup that people use when installing high end audio systems so that the amplifiers don't fluctuate the power on the heavy bass.

I have had this issue before with my 2003 EB and I work for a dealer. It only happened when it was raining or snowing and we found that the shields in the wheel wells were missing. Maybe check those. I didn't put them in I just avoid large puddles, but if it happens I dont worry too much BC I know its going to come back soon.
