The rubber on the airsprings in the Expedition over time will dry rot and crack, thus causing pin holes in them. Often times the cracks and holes are so tiny or in a crease where you cannot see. But if your compressor has gone, it is usually due to the decrease in air, then the compressor has to work overtime. It is only about the size of a coffee can, and is not designed to continuously run. If you replaced the compressor, you probably should replace the air bags. Also, when you do that you will need to go ahead and replace the dryer. If you are interested in totally eliminating the air suspension, you can look into coil over spring conversion kits. The ones that Strutmaster sells has a lifetime warranty. If you want to, contact me and we can discuss what is going on with the Expy.
