Ford ExpeditionTrue expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.
Ok, I'm stumped, how do I turn the stock sub on? I have an '01 EB Expedition with the Mach system. There is a grill on the rear passenger panel with a sub in it, but it is not working.
If anybody could explain how to turn it on, or tip to troubleshoot it, I would appreciate it greatly. Examples of which fuses to look for or buttons to press.
There should be a small amp back where the speaker is, I would look at that and make sure all the fittings are secure or test that it even works. That is really about the only thing it could be, and if it's not then track the wiring running to the amp
I believe it is always on with the radio powering it. Check your radio settings. I know on my Aftermarket radio I can turn my SUB off and on in the radio settings. See your Owners Manual.
See if power is getting to the AMP for it, if not check all fuses in the system. If it is getting power your AMP or SUB may be shot.

I should have updated this.
I have torn out the entire right side of my Expedition and removed the sub enclosure and the amp. The amo was receiving all the proper power and audio input so just for grins I took the amp apart and tested some of the critical components. The coil in the amp was shot so I am replacing the stock amp and speaker with after markets and adding two Rockford P3 10's. I already replaced the stock head unit with the Kenwood DNX5120.
For informational purposes the '01 Expedition has a double DIN front but decreases to a single DIN in the rear. I had to modify the interior of the dash pretty drastically to get a double DIN head unit to fit.
Once in this unit is a great replacement for the stock stereo. It has dual zone controls so you can continue to use the rear stock controls
Very sweet radio, did you get the navigation pack also for it?
Yes, and it is AMAZING, it's right up there with the very best GPS systems you can buy right now 12.7 mil POI's most of the 4" and above GPS high end systems are coming with right around 12 mil POI's.
the only thing I'm not completely happy with is I would have rather had a full 7" screen, but having the non touch screen buttons on the side does have it's major plus's. The volume knob is much easier to turn than trying to find the exact spot on the screen to touch to turn the stereo down.
I was going to get this model or another model like this for my Corvette except I would have to modify the surround that goes around the radio since it is only a din and 1/2 opening.

I had to do the same thing. I don't know what the dash housing inside the Corvette looks like, but it wasn't too difficult to modify it to fit on the Expedition.
However, there is models just as good that fit in a single DIN configuration and also have a full 7" veiwable touch screen
Double din photos after all the fiberglass work has been done.
Stock radio bezel, see how much fiberglass work needs to be done. You totally have to move down the HVAC controls and loose your covered compartment that holds an ash tray(coin tray for me) and cigarette lighter (12V accessory for me)

That's a beautiful job, I'd love to see it finished and installed.
So to solve the problem of space you removed the ashtray, that's absolutely brilliant, I love it. I have the fact that I have an ashtray in any of my vehicles. I would love to ohave the option to not have them stock, total waste of space for me. On the Expedition I have one in the center radio console area, one below the passenger A/C controls in the center console, and one in each rear passener doors. I think they look tacky and even if I smoked I wouldn't do it in my vehicle or let anybody else.
