Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 2006 How to remove headlights? Change blubs?

Hello!

I'm new here!

I'm trying to change the low beam headlights on my wife's Expedition and could not remove the headlight housings from the truck.

I removed what looked to be (2) short screws on top, and (1) long screw that aims towards the ground.

I could get the headlight to wiggle, but it would not pull out.

ANY help appreciated!

Does the front bumper have to come off??

Thanks,
-Mike

Don't they come out the back with a twist and turn, do you have to take the headlight housing out to change the bulb?

You may have caused an EXTREMELY expensive mistake. New vehicle only replace bulbs, not housings. Those screws you removed were the adjustment screws, and if you truely got them out, you may be having to replace the entire housing now and taking the vehicle to an authorized dealer to readjust you headlight pattern.

All you have to do in the future to replace bulbs is unclip the wiring from the bulb itself, unscrew the black ring around the bulb pull out the old bulb and replace with the new one. Pay close attention when you re install the new bulb that you don't touch the bulb glass with any part of your body in fact, if you don't have some clean glove put socks over you hands and install them that way. Oild from our skin will drastically reduce the life of the bulb.

You have to take the entire housing out? I haven't heard of that on a car since the early 80's, but hey, if that's the way it says then I guess that's how ya do it.

I just changed over to HID's. Trust me, I was thinking the same thing as to why ford went with us having to remove the whole headlight ass. Well u have to play around with it wiggling it back & forth and side to side. Finally "VIOLA" out she came ! Changed over to HID's and re-assembled her back together.Only thing I have to do now is adjust passenger side light up alittle and shes good to go.Also guys trust me HID's are the way to go ! ! ! ! !

HID's are the way to go only if they were DOT approved for your vehicle, most kits are not DOT approved.
