Ford ExpeditionTrue expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.
I have a 2001 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition. The 25 amp audio fuse blows as soon as I put it in the slot. There is also a relay that is assosiated with the audio system that sits next to the 25 amp fuse. I checked the relay and it is good. Regardless, with the radio off and keys out of the ignition, relay in or out, everytime I place the 25 amp fuse in the slot, I see sparks come from the fuse slot and it blows. Can someone please give me some pointers on were to look or what to do to try and solve this problem? Has anyone else had this happen to them before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
For those of you wondering, I figured it out. The wire that goes to that fuse is always hot. That wire is connected to the radio and the amplifier for the subwoofer. Come to find out, the amplifier is bad and somehow throwing too much current through that fuse. When I disconnect the amplifier (through the back cup holder) and replace the fuse, she is good to go with the radio working, minus the subwoofer of course. When I plug the amplifier back in the fuse blows. Regardless, I had that amplifier rebuilt by Ford and evidently she went bad again. Just in case someone out there was curious..
My 2002 Expedition had the same problem and unpluged the subwoofer amplifier and the fuse stopped blowing, need to go find a subwoofer amplifer now. Thanks sflight for your post.
