Ford ExpeditionTrue expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.
Hi - newbie here so please forgive if I overstep some local forum etiquette.
I have a 2005 Expedition with only 6k mi on it. Dealer tells me it needs the "steering rack" replaced and simply explains this as a gear in the power steering mechanism.
I know nothing about mechanical assembly. Will someone please educate me? What is the "steering rack"? Why might it need replacing so soon (other than obvious factory defect possibility)? What would be the symptomology? Would outdoor temperature impact symptoms? What other questions should I ask? Precautions? Anything else I am not thinking to ask here?
