Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 98 ford expedition amplifier

I have a 98 ford expedition Edddie Baur the radio works, the sub amp works, the primary or main amp is out, I think. All the controls on the radio work but no sound comes thru to any of the speakers. All I can get is a low buzz when the volumne is turned all the way up. I checked both areas for fuses under the dash and under the hood. they were OK. I took most of the dash out but could not get to the amp that's located below and down from the radio without removing what seamed to be everything. I wanted to now if there is any information I can get to explain or show me how to remove it. I don't want to get so much stuff taken out that I can't get it all back. It's very costly to take in and thought if I had a how to book or procedure I could do it myself. So far all I was willing to remove was the pannel for the radio, the radio, the pannel that hold the rest of the dash controls, the pannel under the streeing column, the top of the center consel. I did removal everything to check the sub woofer in the rear but that doesn't apear to have enough connections on the plug to be the problem. or can it even if it doesn't carry all of the speaker wires. I did take the radio in and had it checked it checked out fine.

This issue with a buzz noise from the radio on a 1998 ford expedition if everything else is working it is the main apmlifier which is located in the dash below and behind the radio. The center consel has to be removed in order to remove the amplifier. The consel is removed by taking off the top of it 3 screws and remove the bolt holding the wiring harness at the front of the consel then there are 4 bolts two are about center of the consel and 2 at the rear of the consel the rear ones need the seats moved to the front as far as they go then there is a cap same color as the consel that has to be removed. After the bolts are removed pull the consel back about 2 to 3 inches and it should be loose lift it up and out. There are 3 bolts that hold the amp in two are right above the opening at the bottom of the dash were the consel came out the other can be accessed through the dash down from the radio opening.

you may have to pull the climate control panel also to get the amp out. At least that is what the book says.
