Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 2003 Door Latch

Has anyone tried to install a door latch to correct the "door ajar" problem? If so, how complicated is it? I'd rather do it myself, if I can, and spare the expense of having it done at the dealership.

Default Door Trim Panel

Try spraying with WD-40 work it into door. then Spray Lithium grease, work that it. Should release the switch.

Door panel removal for 2003 expedition
1. Pry up on window switch panel using removal slot.

2. remove the int. handle trim ring. removal slot is in top right corner.

3. There are 5 bolts/screws holding the plastic panel in place
4. Pull Directly upward on the arm rest to disengage xmas tree pins.

Thanks!

I tried the WD-40 and lithium grease. It fixes the problem temporarily sometimes. Other times it does no good at all.

If the WD40 gets it working for awhile i would do it again but this time clean it out with contact cleaner after the WD and then find a spray in dry lubricant. The wet lubricant will attract dirt and grime and gum everything back up. If this doesn't fix it for the long term then you do need to replace it.

I haven't had a problem with it for quite some time now (and now that I've said that, it'll most likely start acting up again this evening LOL). If and when it does it again, I'll try the contact cleaner and dry lubricant. Thanks for the help!

Use "Silicone Spray Lubricant" because it goes on wet but drys dry. See link below.
