Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default bass sounds with radio muffled & lousy..

AFAIK, got a stock radio/cassette/cd changer package setup in a 98EB5.4 & can't use the bass cos sounds lousy, maybe like the speakers are blown, or can no longer deal with bass.

= very distorted noise/sounds.. bvvvvvv, bvvvvvv

Before I start replacing speakers, figured might be the radio itself that is buggered up?

Haven't (figured out or..) tried a CD yet (6? pack changer between the seats) or cassette to see if bass is Ok that way.

Is it common for speakers to act up as far as bass no longer being usable? tia

It can be a common thing, especially if you have a couple of teenagers. =o)

Stock speakers in the 1930-90's were pretty basic. In short, it wouldn't hurt at all to change out the stock speakers in your SUV, PERIOD. Try looking here for kits & pricing:

Turns out a regular flat screwdriver can be uses to work around the enclosure panel that has simple built in plastic push in clips (not visible from the outside) to put it back in. Have to be careful suppose when you pull it out ..I could see them breaking if you just start yanking.

The speaker grill is built into the panel (one piece) & didn't really look a it first to see if it would come off alone ..but no way on mine.

Speaker is about 6 inch diameter round & has about six small bolts around it bolting it in, Not sure at this point if it's a custom fit type that might be hard to replace & get the panel back on.

Seen front replacements on ebay but not rear. Haven't actually checked but just read the rear doors have speakers.

So no huge deal, only the back one is distorted (I unplugged it) & as far as I can see there is only one there on the right side.

At a quick glance on the front doors, I think the inner door panes have to come off to get at those speakers.
