Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 98 Expedition issues

Im really hoping someone can help me. I will try to explain everything.

I have a 98 expedition w/ 98k miles on it. I am experiencing a few things probably related. When I pull out and say I floor it. It runs hard but has an obvious lack of power. You can feel it pull out hard, but then it pulses like its surging for more power but just cant do it. The other issue just started happening. When I come to a stop, it wants to stall. It drops to 200RPMs and really struggles to stay running. Once I go, its fine just does that surging thing till I come to the next light.

Oh, before it started to want to stall. It felt like a misfire. Like every few seconds when I was sitting at a light I would feel a little "bump" Like it just missed something..

I have replaced plugs already...

I have no warnings on the computer (i have a reader to check the ecu in case its a burned out bulb..)

Please someone help me.. What should I start looking at?

Check your egr valve and all related hoses, they tend to dry rot out at about the mileage your at. What else has been done engine wise, clean throttle body, replace fuel filter, replace air filter? Is it a 4.6 or 5.8? Anything different with the exhaust, possible closed or crushed catalytic converter?

Is there anything recorded in the owners manual? Any paperwork in the glove box, etc?
