Ford ExpeditionTrue expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.
I have a '98 Expedition 5.4 that I haven't started in several weeks. It all started with a bad alternator that I never got around to replacing ...the reason the car was sitting so long. The Expedition has a brand new fully charged battery. I turn the ignition and I hear one click. Have tried starting the Exp in neutral...same thing. I tried crossing the poles on the solenoid/relay....nothing. Doesnt crank! Starter? Any suggestions?
Classic symptoms of a bad starter. If you turn the key and hear it click and hold the key in the start position for just a few seconds, you may smell burning electrical. That's the windings burning up.
Just had the exact same symptoms on my son's Taurus. Really cool smell. But it did confirm that it was the starter motor. Popped in a new one and it fired right up.
