Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Hey I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone because i have NEVER herd of it happening, But about 10 months ago i changed out all my spark plugs when i hit about 80K miles, about 4 months later i was driving home and god knows how but one of the spark plugs came out all on its own, so thank god i was able to call some family to come over with tools to put plug back in. Now 2 nights ago it happened again but a different plug opposite side of engine a spark plug came out, WHat is going one with my truck? my brother and father in law always do all there services them selves and this kinda thing has never happened.

You are the recipient of Ford designed short thread engagement spark plug head problem.
Not enough thread engagement of the plug into the head. Is it the 5.4 engine? Make sure you are using the correct replacement plugs and follow the correct procedure of torquing the plugs in increments to proper torque. Do a google search and you will be surprised by what you find. Another fix is to helicoil the head, much more cost effective than replacing the heads.

Best thing to do is heli coil the head on the cylinders that the plugs blew out of. In my experience the most common denominator is people dont torque the plugs properly. So heili coil the blown ones and retorque the others.

A heli coil is a coil of wires that takes the place of the stripped threads. You have to tap the head and install the coil. It is pretty pricey as 3 to 5 hours labor is about average around here. Im sure there is a better way of explaining what a heli coil is but cant think of it just google heli coil i guess if ya need a better descrition. The insert for the engine is similar to this.

Installing a heli-coil or a timsert insert is not a DIY job. Find a pro who's familiar with the spark plug problems on the 5.4L engine. They'll also have the special tools to remove the rest of the plugs in case they're seized in the head. This is a HUGE problem for all Ford 5.4L owners.

Best advice is to get those old plugs out A.S.A.P. (using the proper procedure--don't just torque on them with a spark plug socket or you'll take out even more threads, or worse, break off the porcelain). Like I said, get this to a pro.
