Ford ExpeditionTrue expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.
OK, fixed the sway bar bolt, thought that would fix the popping sound but....no. All happy, I took off up the road and going in a straight line under acceleration..pop pop pop. So am I back to front drive shaft joints? Or, how could it be cv joints going only straight under load? Ideas?

Reason: clarification
My wifes '99 4X2 has a front popping sound too. I'm going to replace the front sway bar center bushings today (1 is worn). If that dosen't fix it I'm going to start tightening down all the body to frame mounts. Our 'pop' noise sounds like a loose front shock in it's mount. I can even feel it somewhat through the floor board when I'm driving. I'm going to also check the motor & trans mounts while I'm under it.
I'll keep you posted on my success/failure.

Motor & trans mounts were good, the body mounts were all good- up front anyways (we have to pull carpet/trim out), and the sway bar bushings were the wrong ones.
I should have the correct ones in tomorrow, so the saga continues from my standpoint anyways....

I did a quick bit of troubleshooting on Saturday, but was not able to pin down the problem. I did find it pops (and it's loud) no matter what state its in. AWD, 4HI or 4LO. Under load no matter what speed it pops. Hanging my head out with the door open it sounds like it is coming from near center front. I almost think I need to raise the vehicle with jack stands and put it in gear and see if I can tell where it's happening. I am leaning toward front driveshaft or transfer case.
On a side note, I have the correct swaybar bushings but my wife works out of town. I'm going to try and replace them before the weekend to see if it stops our pop noise. I have a feeling your 'pop' might be a driveline issuse, since yours is a 4X4 and ours is just a 4X2.
Keep us posted either way...
