Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 1998 Expedition Questions

Hello members. Might be joining the ford family again after owing 2 Mustang GT Convertibles in the 90's. This time it will be an Expedition for the main purpose of towing our pop up that will weigh about 3k lbs loaded. I have a few questions on the one I am looking at:

1998 Eddie Bauer with the 5.4 Triton. The draw back is it does not have a factory tow package but a Class III hitch has been added. My dealer where I am buying the pop up from will install the 7 pin wiring and brake controller for me. I assume I have to add the harness at the hitch and a harness inside the truck for the brake controller? Any ideas what these harnesses cost? Second, I assume an Expedition tow package comes with a tranny cooler as well so I would need to add this? If so, any idea on cost?

What were the standard features on an EB in 1998 and what were some options you could add. It does not have CD, 3rd row seat, heated seats or mirrors. When I look at the truck tonight i will see if the rear has the floor system to add a third row which I would only do for resale in the future but probably won't do since we don't need it.

Lastly, is the engine upgrade in 1999 worth looking for a 1999 only or is the 5.4 Triton in the 1998 plenty powerful.

Any issues the 1998's tend to have? Anything i should look out for on this truck. thanks
