Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default Check Charging Sytem Warning Light

I have a 2003 Eddie Bauer and the check charging system warning light keeps coming on intermittently with no clear pattern. I have replaced the battery and had the alternator checked out and everything is ok. Has anyone else had this problem or know of any possible solution?

Any help is appreciated.

I also have a 2003 Eddie Bauer, and I also get the Charging System Warning Light every once in a while. Mine seems to do it more when the gas tank is lass than 1/4 full. I have not had a chance to ask my mechanic about it yet, but if I find anything out, i can let you know.

I went about 15 months now without this issue, and it just sprang up again. Does anyone have any idea why it does this? I actually just replaced my battery about 2 months ago and the alternator is fine, too. Seems like a nuisance light, but I don't want to be stranded somewhere because I ignored it when I should not have.

Any thoughts out there?

next time the light comes on try to take note of the weather conditions. is it raining or early morning dew on the grass... my 97 f150 will do this, and it is when the serpentine belt seems to be slipping so it may be time for a new belt. you may try taking the belt off and turning it around, this is also helpful if the belt developes a squeek

I would start with a good cleaning of the battery terminals and ground,it has a pcm controlled charging system so if it doesnt see what it requests it can turn on the light. Some aftermarket alyernators contribute to this problem.

Phantom, do you have any documentation on what conditions cause the light to come on ?

Default 03 Eddie Bauer check charging system

I have the same problem, however mine seems to occur when I turn the AC on. I have taken it to Advance Auto multiple times and each time I get told that the battery and the alt are fine. The meter reads fine and when I put the truck into test mode the voltage reading is 13.6 volts or higher. I took it down to Ford to have them look at it, and they couldn't get it to repeat and charged me 80 dollars for a diagnostic and sent me on my way. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I have been dealing with this for 2+ years now and I would like to sell the vehicle soon.
