Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 2003 Expedition electrical problem

I bought an 03 last year with about 42,000 miles. The first time I had a problem was when it rained hard a few months after I bought it. I don't drive it all the time.

The problem was that when I got out of the car and used the remote to lock the doors the outside mirror lights and interior lights stayed on and almost pulsed as if something was trying to turn them off. I kept opening doors and shutting them and ended up spraying the locks with wd-40. That seemed to fix the problem

It rained again a few days ago and then the lights did the same thing, except this time the radio won't shut off and when I opened the driver door one time, the radio kept going on and off like it was haunted.

The door chime is going off even though there is no key in the ignition. The battery went dead. I am just keeping a charger on it until I get my factory service manuals this week and proceed to fix the truck.

A few days ago I did notice that the top of the windshield, when pressed on the driver's side, actually seperates from the seal and the light from a flashlight can be seen from the other side.

I have noticed what I thought to be a lot of condensation all over the inside of the car. No moldy smell though. I did see wetness accumulating along the bottom inside of the windshield.

I am going to have the windshield replace and I will check out the GEM module and the fuse block. I think the fuse block is on the passenger side on this year. I don't see how water could travel to the other side of the vehicle.

Hi,
Would this work for a 99 and how much do you want?
Thanks,

We took our Expy to a local Ford dealership who ran some kind of water test. They found that the Driver's side A-Pillar was cracked and that's how the water was getting in. They say that it's fixed and I'm going to pick it up tonight. They also had to replace the fuse panel, as that's where the water was going and monkeying up the electrical system.
