Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default Intake Problem??

Ok, im not a mechanic, so Obviously im not very familiar whit what things are named.I do some of the Expy maintanense my self, and i was checking how to install a new Intake on my '98 Expy 4X4 5.4 and took the Stock intake off. What i don't know the name of is where it gooks up to in the motor. Is it the Throttle Body? there is a wing inside that opens when you step on the gas. My problem is that when i checked this piece out, the inside of the wing (when opened) was full of oil, heavy oil and allot of particles. I think its sand that stuck to it. (Albuquerque has no grass and allot of desert). I thought that this isnt good, since ait is supposed to go through not oil. Anyone have an Idea of why its that way, and if it will affect my motor badly? Im taking this part off this weekend and clean it with carb cleaner. Anyone suggest anything else? or maybe what to or not to do?? Thankx

Default

I Finally cleaned it this weekend. I took the part off, and cleaned it with Carb cleanes, man was it dirty, and now its so clean. I also decided to spray inside the throtle body and it cleaned pretty good. When i put everything back together and started the Expy, black smoke came out, and the motor was a bit hard, but then it loosened and let out white smoke. I kept on stepping on the gas untill no smoke came out at all. Then i test ran it, and it ran smooth.
