Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

If you haven't refilled the tank, do so now. Take it down to Autozone and have them pull the code from the computer. They may be able to reset it. If not, there may be something wrong but the code they pull will point you in the right direction.

Default check engine light

I've been told that the check engine light is most often an emmisions equipment problem. When calling for an appointment for a New York inspection, my mechanic tells me :
"don't even BRING it in here if the check engine light is on!"
I just bought a '98 Explorer, and the light just came on, three days into ownership.
Did you get any more info on the light? My girl is taking ours to Autozone this morning, so I'll post what I find out.

my check engine light and od light is blinking on my 2001 expedition. I had no prior warning that anything was wrong until I went to start my car and the lights were on. Help. I pulled the codes and they were P0743. P0755, P1747, P0443, P1451, P0135, P0141, P0155 and P0161.

You have Tranny problems starting with your solenoids, maybe even worse, pay 75 bucks to a tranny shop and they will tell you what is wrong... Definately has to do with your torque converter solenoid wiring or torque converter itself.. Drive in 2nd gear no more than 45 mph until you get it fixed!!

TROUBLE CODES, Page 3
this is the site i got this info from you should check it out

looks like you have some issues related to your O2 sensors

There are two types of Oxygen Sensor trouble codes: O2 heater circuit codes and O2 sensor codes.

O2 Heater circuit related codes include P0036, P0037, P0038, P0042, P0043, P0044, P0050, P0051, P0052, P0056, P0057, P0058, P0062, P0063, P0064 & P0141.

O2 Sensor related codes include P0130, P0131. P0132. P0133, P0134, P0135, P0136, P0137, P0138, P0139, P0140, P0142, P0143, P0144, P0145, P0146, P0147, P0150, P0151, P0152, P0153, P0154, P0155, P0156, P0157, P0158, P0159, P0160, P0161, P0162, P0163, P0164, P0165, P0166 & P0167

The heater codes will set if a fault is detected in the O2 sensor heater circuit. The O2 sensor codes will be set if the O2 sensor readings remain low (lean), or high (rich), or do not change quickly enough, or do not change at all.

The O2 sensor reads unburned oxygen in the exhaust, and generates a voltage signal that is proportional to the amount of oxygen in the exhaust. The signal can vary from a low of about 0.1 volts up to a high of about 0.9 volts. A low voltage signal indicates a lean fuel mixture. A high voltage signal indicates a rich fuel mixture. The engine computer uses the O2 sensor's input to balance the fuel mixture during closed loop operation. A bad sensor may prevent the system from going into closed loop, and usually causes the fuel mixture to run rich causing an increase in fuel consumption and emissions.

A low voltage (lean) reading may indicate a bad O2 sensor, a vacuum leak, or a condition that allows unburned oxygen to enter the exhaust. Check intake vacuum at idle, and inspect vacuum hose connections. If okay, check for a misfiring cylinder, a burned exhaust valve that is leaking compression, or a leaky exhaust manifold gasket.

O2 sensor quick checks include watching the sensor's output voltage as the fuel mixture changes. Momentarily disconnecting a vacuum hose will cause a lean response from the O2 sensor. No change in the reading or a very sluggish response would indicate a bad O2 sensor.

NOTE: If you get an oxygen sensor code plus a random misfire code and a MAP sensor code, the engine probably has a serious vacuum leak.

Check your egr valve and t connections and hoses. Pretty simple check, these will deteriorate after a few years. Mine started sucking air from a hole worn in the hose, I do my regular oil and filter changes and glanced at the egr valves and hoses but never saw it until check engine light came on, lifted the hood with the engine running and heard this god awful sucking noise.

Another bad vacuum leak point is the hose and/or elbows on the PCV valve hose. It connects to the PCV valve (on valve cover) and runs around to the back of the engine's intake manifold....
