Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Default 2003 road noise & rear window issue

Just purchased a used 2003. It seems on turns and lower speeds (10 - 30 mph) that I'm getting a humming road noise as though the AWD is not disengaged. I thought it may be the tires so I purchased a brand new set and the lower speed road noise has gotten worse most likely because of better traction. Also, when it rains my rear window automatically unlatches. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Please check my post "Expedition A4WD Mystery Solved". This is a very common problem with Expeditons, and nothing is being done by Ford to correct the problem. Mechanics everywhere are replacing the shift motor (which has been recalled anyway because its been known to shift suddenly into 4X4 Low by itself), speed sensors, GEM, tires, and nothing fixes it, except for relacing the transfer case. This is the only way without having to rebuild it yourself. First, folllow the steps I took to rule out the possibility of an electrical fault. Plese let me know what you find.

WHAT GOOD IS A TRANSFER CASE IF YOU CAN'T EVEN GET 100,000 OUT OF IT!

As far as the rear latch goes, I've never heard of them unlatching themselves, but I'm sure if you replace the latch, it would correct the problem.
