Ford Expedition True expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.

Question 2003 Rear Air Thumping and Radio problems

I have a 2003 Ford Expedition that I have had many issues with. First, my rear air is making a loud thumping sound that the dealership fixed last May. I drive a lot of miles back and forth to work and although it is less than a year later, it is over 12000 miles so they do not want to help me out at all. Has anyone else had these issues or any suggestions on how to fix this easily or how to deal with the dealership? The other issue I've had is that CD's were getting stuck in my CD player, however it would never do it while it was at the dealership so they would not fix it and now they do not want to help me with that either and the CD portion of my radio gives the message "CD error" anytime I try to use it. Any ideas here? I'm incredibly frustrated as we've also had numerous other issues such as the alarm going off by itself in the driveway (again no explanation from Ford). We had to disconnect the battery and of course it wouldn't do it for them. The transmission leaked into the transfer case and the doors would say "door ajar" no matter how many times we opened and closed them...this to just mention a few of the issues we've had since 2003. I appreciate any advice I can get.

The rearthumping is due to an atuator that opens and closes the rear exchanger on the passenger side of the vehicle, the cogs teeth break off and that is what you are hearing popping will it is trying to open and close the damper, the part is around 65 from Ford Parts department. You have to remove the entire panels in the back if you have big arms, I have small arms so I popped the panel and put a spaced agains teh backside so I could get down in the and pull out the 4 holding screws and unplug it, it is a little tricky trying to snap the side back in place, or you can spend 400 and let Ford do it.

Every time u complained about the CD player errors, it should have been documented on the Repair Order Invoice copy u get when u pick up the SUV. Get all ur copies together and make an appointment with the Service Mgr. If he doesn't help, ask him for the # to the Ford Rep. in that area.....
