Ford ExpeditionTrue expeditions require additional transportation conveyances: horses, boats, cars, for example. With a towing capacity around 9,000 pounds, the Ford Expedition can tow any of these. Ford adds a new top end King Ranch model for 2008, as well as an available rear backup camera and power-retractable running boards. The Expedition is meant for utility, not posing.
I run 285/75R16 Dunlop Rover AT tires on stock aluminum rims.
They have been on the vehicle for 52,000 miles and have no adverse tread wear patterns. The tech at the shop told me he has put 305/75R16 tires on the same rims but the centers do wear out quickly because they don't fit right.
P.S. If you put load "D" range tires on your Expedition, run at least 45psi. Don't listen to the idiots at the shops that tell you to put 35psi in them. This is the pressure for the stock tires which are Load "C" range. The Expedition is very heavy for its size, it should have heavy truck tires on it.
i have B.F.GoodrichT/A's 285/75R16's on my "01". i'm fixin to get a new set and i have 60k on these. i got them as an upgrade when i bought it cause i wasn't livin with anything Firestone that came stock at the time. there is still some wear left on these, but i'm takin a long distance trip and don't want any trouble. i'm inheriting this rig from my wife as i'm getting her a new car this year and will probably have to buy tires again when i put a lift kit on it.
I have a '00 Expedition Eddie 4wd. I put Nitto Terra Grappler 305/55/20 (33x12.50/20) All Terrains on my Expedition. They fit a 20" rim. They fit very nicely. You will need to do a little trimming on the front bumper on the little plastic faring. The rears fit perfectly. I wanted to add an off road slash urban appeal to it.
Damn Dude!
I'd sure like to see a picture of your Eddie with the 20's on them!
Does your Expy run rougher with those big succas on it?
Sounds kind of outragous!
Size limits depend on just how much trouble you want to go through to make something fit.
If you want the biggest wheel or tire possible without hacking up your truck this is a lil easier to answer.
I run 18's right now on my own EB with 285-60-18 "31.50in tall" rubber and it rides really nice, looks correct in size and does not rub anywhere. Lock to lock in the fronts there is plenty of clearance. 305-50-20 is a good way to go as well. None of them will throw your speedo off enough to bother with IMO.
