EXPEDITION POWER STEERING

WE HAVE 97 EXPEDITION AND IT STARTED TO MAKE SLIGHT NOISE IN STEERING AND YOU CAN FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL . IT'S GETTING WORSE . FLUID IS OK . HAS ANY ONE HAD THIS TROUBLE OR IS IT A TYPICAL FORD P/S NOISE .ALSO I HEARD OF A RECALL FOR 97 EXPEDITION FOR DOOR LATCHES.

get the steering flushed... there are a couple of tsb's on this, but I haven't seen either one of them really work....

I had an 88 Blazer years ago, power steering started humming pretty good, caused by a leak in the lines. I replaced the leaking lines, flushed the system, (very important to get all the pump crud that is created when it whines), and refilled with fluid. Added a bit of Slick 50 type super slippery power steering fluid to it. Quieted it down a bunch, but still had to be replaced after about 15k miles.
