| '00 Speed Control Recall My 2000 explorer had a recall on the speed control. I took it to my dealer to get fixed but they were all out of the replacement parts. They had to just disconect the sensor (for liability reasons i guess)
But now I've been with out my cruise for a few months and its starting to be real annoying. They keep giving me a run around about not having parts in yet.
I'm pretty sure the mechanic just undid a cable or something under my hood. But didn't really watch closely. Could anyone take a pic of where that is located so I can just hook it back up!!
Thanks |

| You are probably under the recall too. I'd check with your dealer. |

| Near the master cylinder there should be a harness hanging there.

I don't get it why people always expect a old vehicle that breaks down to always be covered under some warranty? If your exhaust tip is larger than your cylinder bore, then you are a Ricer.

| DO NOT>>>I REPEAT DO NOT hook the release switch back up for your own safety...i am the former owner of a beauitful EDDIE Bauer Expedition that went up in flames from the switch thats in recall....dont do it....my truck was parked in front of my wifes office for an hour and a half...when i looked up to see it in flames...the switch overheats and causes an electrical meltdown.....put up with the inconvience till they have the parts

| Looks like I logged on to the this forum at the right time. I just bought a '00 XLS (w/o speed control)and have been researching buying and installing the Ford factory speed control kit.
The kit (as I understand it) contains the steering wheel controls, wiring harness, servo unit and mounting hardware. Since I'm planning on using the wiring harness that's already installed, I'm now wondering if the recalled switch will be a problem. I've checked and there are no outstanding factory recalls on my truck, but maybe it's not on the recall list because Ford didn't send it out the door with factory-installed speed control.
Now that I've written all of that, I now realize that my question is: does my non-cruise-equipped Explorer have the troubled switch on it somewhere?
Thanks,
Craig |
