Ford Explorer Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.

Default Front shocks or struts???

My wife's explorer dives and wiggles. I drove it for the first time coming back from a White sox baseball game. The last time I drove her Exp was when we went on vacation. Her's is a 6cy my Ram is 8cy $$ Anyway after the ball game I drove and told her I think she needs shocks. I did have there people in the back but the Exp should not have felt unstable. I have no idea if she has shocks or struts. I plan on checking tire pressure as that may be a cause but I do know I never had the front or rear shocks replaced. I did have stabilizer links replaced. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What year is it? Mine has shocks and its a 95. You could be needing ball joints or tierod ends if an older xpo. Also could be the wheel bearings. They can cause wiggles. They arent exspensive and easy to put in.

your 98 has shocks on the front and rear. Sounds like your explorer has too much body roll, replacing the shock will help.
